# Flying Blue lounge access: all options by status level

Last updated: 7 October 2026 - 10 min read - [See sources](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-lounge-access#sources>)

By [Remco de Graaf](<https://skystatus.pro/about>) Founder of SkyStatus, Flying Blue member since 2005, currently Ultimate. Also Managing Director and co-owner at Reshift Digital. Founder of Zoom.nl (120,000 users) and Zoom Academy (80,000 paying students). Experience includes at least 15 mileage runs and visits to at least 60 countries.

You are standing in a crowded terminal, watching other travelers disappear behind a frosted glass door, and you want to know whether your Flying Blue card opens it too. The honest answer is that access depends entirely on how you arrived. Your [status tier](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-status-levels>), your ticket, or the card in your wallet. Each is a different door with different rules. This guide walks through every route into a Flying Blue lounge so you know which one is yours and what it actually gets you.

## Lounge access with Flying Blue

Lounge access is one of the most sought-after benefits in airline loyalty programs. With Flying Blue, **free lounge access starts at Gold status** (180 XP), granting entry to **750+ SkyTeam lounges** worldwide. There are also other routes to the lounge: via a Business Class ticket, [Flying Blue Extra](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-extra>), a day pass, or the Amex Platinum Card.

Your fare does not change this: a Gold, Platinum or Ultimate member keeps lounge access on a Basic or Light ticket on Air France and KLM.

All routes to lounge access with Flying Blue at a glance. Gold status (180 XP) gives free access to 750+ lounges. See our [XP guide](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-earn-xp-fast>) for the fastest path to Gold.

## Overview by status level

| Status level | XP requirement | Lounge access | Bring a guest |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Explorer | 0 XP | None (day pass or Business Class only) | No |
| [Silver](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-silver-status>) | 100 XP | 25% discount on day pass (book 25+ hours ahead) | No |
| **[Gold](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-gold-status>)** | **180 XP** | **Free access to 750+ SkyTeam lounges (international SkyTeam flights)** | **Yes, 1 guest** |
| [Platinum](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-platinum-status>) | 300 XP | Free SkyTeam lounges | Yes, 1 guest |
| [Ultimate](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-ultimate-status>) | 900 UXP | All SkyTeam lounges + special Ultimate facilities (not the La Première lounge) | Yes, 8 guests |

**The real turning point is Gold.** The difference in lounge experience between Explorer/Silver and Gold is enormous. Below Gold you pay EUR 60-75 per visit. With Gold you walk in for free, with a guest. If you regularly fly intercontinental, this can save you EUR 1,000+ per year. Read how to reach Gold in our [Gold status guide](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-gold-status>).

## Gold: the gateway to the lounge

[Gold status](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-gold-status>) (180 XP) unlocks the most valuable travel benefit for many flyers: **free access to 750+ SkyTeam lounges** worldwide. The precise rule ([skyteam.com](<https://www.skyteam.com/en/lounges>), verified 10 July 2026): access requires a same-day international SkyTeam flight, or a same-day transfer between two SkyTeam flights, and applies at departure and during transfers, never on arrival. US-Caribbean routes count as domestic under this rule.

### What Gold includes

- **750+ lounges:** SkyTeam lounges worldwide when departing on a same-day international SkyTeam flight, including KLM Crown Lounges, Air France lounges, and partner lounges (since April 2025, also 70+ selected lounges on domestic SkyTeam flights)
- **1 guest:** you may bring one guest traveling on the same flight
- **All cabin classes:** even if you fly Economy, you can enter the lounge
- **SkyPriority:** priority at check-in, boarding, baggage, and at the gate

Value of Gold lounge access

Suppose you fly intercontinental 8 times per year (4 return trips) and visit the lounge each time with a guest:

- 8 lounge visits x EUR 65 (day pass) = **EUR 520**
- 8 guest visits x EUR 65 = **EUR 520**
- **Total savings: EUR 1,040 per year**

That alone exceeds the cost of the Flying Blue Amex Platinum Card (EUR 660/year), which also gives 60 XP per year toward Gold.

The Gold target is 180 XP from Silver. Starting from zero XP as Explorer, you first earn 100 XP for Silver, then another 180 XP for Gold. SkyStatus shows how many XP you still need. Thresholds checked on 13 September 2026: [KLM programme overview](<https://www.klm.nl/en/information/flying-blue/program>).

![SkyStatus Status Checker, Silver with 60 recorded XP: Keep Silver 40 more XP, Reach Gold a third full with 120 more XP to the threshold.](/guide/images/status-check-silver-60xp-202610.webp?v=09ce9d7c427b07c6)

The Status Checker set to a Silver member with 60 XP, what the Amex Platinum Card adds in a year: Gold is 120 XP away, and flights have to bring the rest.

![SkyStatus The value of your status, This cycle: €5,885 from travel, 47 eligible flights at €104 per flight, upgrade vouchers €1,000.](/guide/images/status-value-card-202610.webp?v=a96fd0ce08ab4678)

The value of your status in SkyStatus: the benefits one member used on flown trips this cycle are worth €5,885, including €1,000 from an upgrade voucher. Per eligible flight that is €104 on average, split by short and long haul and by cabin.

### How to reach Gold

Gold requires 180 XP within a [qualification year](<https://skystatus.pro/tools/status-check>). The fastest routes:

- **Amex Platinum Card + flights:** 60 XP from the card + 120 XP from flights (roughly 6 intercontinental return flights in Economy)
- **Amex Gold Card + flights:** 30 XP from the card + 150 XP from flights
- **Flights only:** 180 XP (roughly 9 intercontinental return flights in Economy, or fewer in Business Class)

Read the complete strategies in our [earn XP fast guide](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-earn-xp-fast>).

## Platinum and Ultimate: extra benefits

### Platinum (300 XP)

[Platinum](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-platinum-status>) offers the same SkyTeam lounge access as Gold, plus:

- Access to the **KLM Crown Lounge 52** (the premium variant at Schiphol)
- **2 guests** in some lounges (depending on lounge rules)

The **La Première lounge** at Paris-CDG is not included: it stays reserved for passengers holding a La Première ticket.

### Ultimate (900 UXP)

[Ultimate](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-ultimate-status>) is the highest level, requiring 900 UXP to achieve. In addition to all Platinum benefits, Ultimate offers:

- Access to all SkyTeam lounges, including exclusive Ultimate facilities (the La Première lounge excepted)
- Personal service and a dedicated contact person
- Personalized benefits that may vary per member

## Business Class: always lounge access

Passengers with a **Business Class ticket** on Air France, KLM, or a SkyTeam partner automatically have lounge access, regardless of their Flying Blue status. This applies on the day of the flight.

- **KLM Business:** access to KLM Crown Lounges
- **Air France Business:** access to Air France lounges
- **SkyTeam partners:** access to the relevant partner lounge

**Business Light excluded:** the official Air France lounge conditions list Business Light fares among the groups without complimentary access. Lounge entry in Business applies to Standard and Flex fares. Check your fare type before counting on it. From September 8, 2026 the same split applies to award tickets on Air France and KLM: a [Business Light award](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-light-standard-flex>) no longer includes lounge access either.

**Business Class awards:** an award ticket in Business Class (with miles) booked before September 8, 2026 includes lounge access. For awards booked since then it stays true in the Standard and Flex options, but a Business Light award drops the included lounge access. Gold members and above keep entering on status either way, under the normal SkyTeam conditions. A [Business Class sweet spot](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-sweet-spots>) still buys you a flat bed plus the lounge, if you pick the right fare option.

## SkyTeam policy changes (2025)

On April 1, 2025, [SkyTeam announced three major policy changes](<https://www.skyteam.com/en/about>) to lounge access rules. These changes affect all SkyTeam Elite Plus members, including Flying Blue Gold, Platinum, and Ultimate. Here is what changed and what it means in practice. All rules below were re-verified against [skyteam.com](<https://www.skyteam.com/en/lounges>) on 10 July 2026.

**Key takeaway for Flying Blue elites:** at Air France and KLM lounges, FB Gold/Platinum/Ultimate members are [exempt from the 3-hour rule](<https://www.flyingblue.com/en/news/skyteam-lounge-access>). But at partner SkyTeam lounges (e.g. Korean Air, Aeromexico, Vietnam Airlines), the new restrictions apply to everyone, including FB elites.

### 1\. Three-hour pre-departure limit

Many SkyTeam lounges now enforce a **maximum of 3 hours before departure**. If your flight is more than 3 hours away, you may be denied entry.

- **FB elites at AFKL lounges:** exempt. You can enter regardless of departure time ([confirmed by Flying Blue](<https://www.flyingblue.com/en/news/skyteam-lounge-access>))
- **FB elites at partner lounges:** not exempt. The 3-hour rule applies, as reported by multiple travelers at lounges in [Barcelona, Mexico City, and other airports](<https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-france-klm-other-partners-flying-blue/2184054-skyteam-lounge-access-changes-2025-a.html>)
- **Business Class passengers at AFKL lounges:** exempt
- **Connecting passengers at AFKL transit lounges:** same-day or 24-hour access at transit points

### 2\. Same-flight guest rule

Previously, FB elites could bring a guest traveling on _any_ SkyTeam flight. Since April 2025, your guest must be booked on the **same flight** as you. This is now enforced for FB elites too.

- **What changed:** a Flying Blue Platinum member used to invite someone flying on a different KLM flight. That is no longer allowed
- **Enforcement:** the Flying Blue website was updated to reflect this rule. Enforcement at the lounge desk varies, with some agents still allowing it and others strictly checking boarding passes

### 3\. Domestic lounge access (new benefit)

SkyTeam introduced **domestic lounge access** for Elite Plus members at select airports. This is a new benefit: previously, SkyTeam lounge access was limited to international flights.

- **How it works:** participating airlines opt in their lounges. The list is expanding in phases (Phase 1 from April 2025, Phase 2 from June 2025). As of July 2026 it covers 70+ selected lounges, listed in the Lounge Finder
- **Airlines that opted out:** Delta (SkyClubs are excluded) and Aerolineas Argentinas
- **Airlines participating:** Air France, KLM, Vietnam Airlines, Korean Air, and others. Check the [SkyTeam Lounge Finder](<https://www.skyteam.com/en/lounges/lounge-finder>) for the current list

### 4\. Delta SkyClub access for FB elites

Delta SkyClubs have their own rules that differ from other SkyTeam lounges:

- **International itinerary:** FB Gold/Platinum/Ultimate can access Delta SkyClubs, even in Economy class
- **Domestic US flights:** no access, Delta has not opted into the domestic access program
- **US-Caribbean:** SkyTeam classifies this as domestic, so no SkyClub access
- **Canada-US:** international, SkyClub access granted
- **Delta’s own 2024 restrictions:** the SkyClub access cuts that Delta announced in 2024 target its own SkyMiles elites. Per skyteam.com, "SkyTeam Elite Plus members of other member programs are not impacted", so Flying Blue Gold/Platinum/Ultimate keep their access
- **Basic Economy:** since 1 January 2024, Delta SkyClubs exclude passengers on Basic Economy tickets, regardless of status

In practice, Delta lounge staff may not always be familiar with Flying Blue elite benefits. [Several travelers report](<https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-france-klm-other-partners-flying-blue/2184054-skyteam-lounge-access-changes-2025-a.html>) having to explain the rules and show the SkyTeam website. Patience and a screenshot of the rules can help.

Flight eligibility for SkyTeam lounge access

For a flight to qualify as a "SkyTeam flight" for lounge access, it must be both **operated by** and **marketed by** a SkyTeam member airline. Codeshares with non-SkyTeam airlines (for example, a WestJet segment sold by Delta) do not grant SkyTeam lounge access.

### Measured: the seat most members fly

Measured in SkyStatus members' flight logs: 94.4% of segments are Economy. On most flights, then, lounge access comes from status or a card, not from the ticket.

_SkyStatus member data, October 2026, based on 934 members with completed flights, counted in segments. Our members are self-selected optimizers, not a random sample of Flying Blue members._

## Buying lounge access (without status)

No Gold status and no Business Class ticket? You can still visit a lounge:

### Day pass at the door or online

- **KLM Crown Lounge (Schiphol):** approximately EUR 60-75 per visit, depending on the lounge
- **Air France lounge (CDG):** approximately EUR 65 per visit
- **Book online:** often cheaper than at the door. Book via [klm.com](<https://www.klm.com/information/airport/worldwide-lounges>) or [airfrance.com](<https://www.airfrance.com/>)

### Silver discount

[Silver members](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-silver-status>) get a **25% discount** on the purchase price of lounge access. This must be booked at least 25 hours before departure via the Flying Blue website. In practice, you save EUR 15-19 per visit.

**Availability:** lounges can be full, especially during peak hours. A day pass does not guarantee access if the lounge is at capacity. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

### The official rules for paid access

Both airlines publish terms for paid lounge access, with details the booking pages do not show:

- **KLM sells Paid Lounge Access only during off-peak hours.** When the Crown Lounge is expected to be filled by guests with status or Business Class tickets, the paid option is simply not offered. Whether you get the Schengen or Non-Schengen lounge follows from your destination.
- **Entry from 3 hours before departure**, on the day of departure itself, at KLM and Air France alike. You enter by scanning your boarding pass.
- **Personal and non-transferable:** once bought, the access cannot be changed, transferred or resold.
- **Paid extras inside the KLM lounge stay paid:** the Sleep Cabins and Sense Pods are excluded from Paid Lounge Access.
- **Air France prices vary** by lounge, Flying Blue status and age (there is an official Youth rate). Paying with Miles is possible at a sales counter, through an agent or on the website. Unaccompanied minors cannot buy the Lounge Option.

### When paid lounge access is refunded

Bought access and plans changed? These are the official refund cases:

- **KLM:** your inbound flight to Schiphol was delayed and you never entered the lounge, you bought a [Business Class upgrade](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/klm-upgrade-at-check-in>) (lounge included), your flight was involuntarily rescheduled or rebooked, you were denied entry during a major disruption, or you cancel an online purchase within 24 hours without having used it.
- **Air France:** your flight is cancelled, modified or delayed, you cancel a Full Flex ticket, the lounge is unavailable after a voluntary flight change, a cabin change gives you complimentary access, the lounge is closed, you are denied entry due to overcrowding, or you buy an upgrade that includes lounge access.

In every other case the purchase is final. Request the refund via the airline's refund form.

## Flying Blue Extra: lounge passes

[Flying Blue Extra](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-extra>) includes lounge passes as part of the subscription:

| Plan | Price/year | Lounge passes | Pass value |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Essential | EUR 379 | 2 passes | ~EUR 130 (2 x EUR 65) |
| Extended | EUR 699 | 4 passes | ~EUR 260 (4 x EUR 65) |

The passes are valid in Air France and KLM lounges at Paris CDG and Amsterdam Schiphol.

![SkyStatus Flying Blue Extra estimate for Extended: +€604 per subscription year, while lounge access and Miles protection add €0 as Ultimate.](/guide/images/fb-extra-annual-estimate-202610.webp?v=274bccbfef2f71a9)

The Flying Blue Extra estimate for an Ultimate member: own lounge access and Miles protection add €0, because status already covers them. Extended still comes out at +€604 a year here, but only through the reward booking discount.

**Value trap:** if you already have Gold status or higher, you already get free lounge access on _every_ SkyTeam flight. [The Flying Blue Extra passes then have zero value](<https://skystatus.pro/tools/fb-extra>). This is one of the biggest pitfalls of the subscription: the people who fly enough to justify it often already have status-based access. Read our [critical analysis of Flying Blue Extra](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-subscription>).

## Amex and Priority Pass

The Flying Blue Amex cards do not offer direct lounge access. But they help indirectly:

### Flying Blue Amex Platinum Card (EUR 55/month)

- **60 XP per year:** brings you closer to Gold (180 XP) for free SkyTeam lounge access
- **1-1.5 miles per euro:** miles on daily spending, which you can use to book Business Class awards (lounge access in Standard and Flex)
- **Welcome bonus up to 70,000 miles:** enough for an intercontinental Business Class return with lounge access included

### Flying Blue Amex Gold Card (EUR 16.50/month)

- **30 XP per year:** helps toward Gold, but you need more flights
- **1 mile per euro:** earn miles on spending
- **Welcome bonus up to 25,000 miles:** a good start for your first award

**Priority Pass via Amex:** the regular American Express Platinum Card (not the Flying Blue co-branded version) offers the **American Express Global Lounge Collection** with access to 1,550+ lounges worldwide, including Priority Pass. This is a separate Amex product, not a Flying Blue benefit. If lounge access is your primary goal and you do not exclusively fly SkyTeam, this can be an alternative.

## Lounges at Amsterdam Schiphol

Schiphol has several lounges relevant to Flying Blue travelers:

| Lounge | Location | Access via |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **KLM Crown Lounge 25** | Schengen, Level 2 near D59-87 gates | Gold+, Business Class, day pass |
| **KLM Crown Lounge 52** | Non-Schengen, between pier E and F | Gold+ (premium variant), Business Class |
| **KLM Crown Lounge 82** | Non-Schengen, E-pier | Gold+, Business Class, day pass |

The **Crown Lounge 52** on Holland Boulevard is the newest and most premium KLM lounge. It offers a higher level of service with a la carte dishes, a more extensive bar, and a quieter work area.

**Arrival lounge access removed (June 2025):** as of June 1, 2025, Flying Blue Gold and Platinum members no longer have access to the KLM Crown Lounges at Schiphol upon arrival. This was previously a popular benefit for freshening up after a long flight. The change has been confirmed by KLM staff, though enforcement was inconsistent in the first weeks.

![Privium Members Club homepage at Schiphol: fast security, border passage, exclusive lounges, and parking benefits](/guide/images/lounge-privium-homepage.webp?v=50971d969e9c667a)

Privium is Schiphol's own members club with exclusive lounges, fast security, and border passage. Holders of the Amex Platinum Card receive free Privium membership, including access to the Privium ClubLounges.

![Privium ClubLounge Departures (before security, counter 9) and Privium ClubLounge West (after security, lounge 43) at Schiphol with luxury buffet and work cabins](/guide/images/lounge-privium-clublounge-schiphol.webp?v=190afeeb34fbd62f)

The two Privium ClubLounges at Schiphol: Departures (before security, 05:30-21:00) and West (after security, 05:30-21:00). Both offer a luxury buffet, work cabins, and a relaxation area. ClubLounge West also has shower and hand spa facilities.

**Tip for Schiphol:** if you have a long layover, the lounge is the perfect place. Free food, drinks, wifi, and a quiet workspace. With Gold status, every connection becomes more comfortable.

## Which lounge at which airport: the Air France and KLM hub finder

Knowing you _have_ access is half the answer. The other half is which lounge to walk to. Air France and KLM operate roughly 30 lounges of their own: six at Paris-CDG, two Crown Lounges at Amsterdam Schiphol, one in Bordeaux and about 20 across their international network. Here is the finder for the hubs travelers actually search for, based on the [official Air France-KLM lounge guide (April 2026 edition)](<https://afkldocs.info/assets/228_AFK_lounge_guide.pdf>). Access rules are identical everywhere: free for Gold, Platinum, Ultimate, SkyTeam Elite Plus and Business Class passengers on a Standard or Flex fare.

### Air France lounge JFK (New York, Terminal 1)

Air France's own lounge at New York-JFK sits in Terminal 1, open 07:00 to 21:00. It serves the Paris-bound departures bank, so expect it busiest in the late afternoon and evening.

### Air France lounge Boston (Terminal E)

The Boston Logan lounge in Terminal E runs 08:00 to 22:30, one of the longest opening windows in the US network, covering both the afternoon and late-evening Paris departures.

### Air France lounge LAX (Tom Bradley International Terminal)

At Los Angeles the lounge sits in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, open 09:00 to 23:30. Evening Paris departures are the peak, so arrive early.

### Air France lounges Paris-CDG (2E, 2F, 2G)

The mothership: six lounges across Terminal 2E (halls K, L and M), 2F for Schengen flights and 2G for regional departures. Hall K is the flagship after its April 2025 renovation: three levels, 2,800 m², 638 seats, Clarins treatments and Ducasse Paris menu concepts. Hall M closes early (17:00), so board from the K or L lounge in the evening. Above them all sits the [La Première lounge, which is cabin-gated](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/air-france-la-premiere-lounge>): no status opens that door.

### Air France and KLM lounges Houston (IAH, Terminal D)

Houston is unique: the only airport in the world with an Air France lounge _and_ a KLM Crown Lounge side by side, both in Terminal D. The Crown Lounge runs long hours (06:00 to 21:00), the Air France lounge a short afternoon window (12:00 to 17:00). Best pick: whichever is open. With both open, pick the shorter queue. Your access is identical in both.

### Air France lounge Washington Dulles (Terminal A)

The Dulles lounge in Terminal A is open 07:30 to 21:00, covering the daily Paris rotations.

### Air France lounge San Francisco (SFO, International Terminal A)

At San Francisco the lounge sits in International Terminal A, open 10:00 to 20:30.

### KLM Crown Lounges Amsterdam (25 and 52)

Schiphol has two Crown Lounges, both open 04:45 to 22:00: **Crown Lounge 25** for Schengen flights near the D gates, and **Crown Lounge 52** for non-Schengen departures at Holland Boulevard. Lounge 52 is the showpiece: showers, sleep cabins, a terrace, live cooking and the Blue bar upstairs (premium drinks payable in euros or Miles). Details per lounge in the [Schiphol section](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-lounge-access#schiphol>) below.

### Chicago, Miami and other US airports

Honest answer, because almost nobody gives it: Air France operates **no lounge of its own** at Chicago O'Hare or Miami. Eligible passengers get a partner or contract lounge instead. Check your boarding pass or the [SkyTeam Lounge Finder](<https://www.skyteam.com/en/lounges/>) for the assigned lounge on your departure day.

### The rest of the network

| Airport | Location | Lounge | Hours (indicative) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **London Heathrow (LHR)** | Terminal 4 | Air France, opened July 2026 | 05:00 to 22:00 |
| **Frankfurt (FRA)** | Terminal 2, hall D | Air France | 05:45 to 20:15 |
| **Munich (MUC)** | Terminal 1D | Air France | 05:15 to 20:30 |
| **Geneva (GVA)** | Main terminal | Air France | Daily |
| **Montreal (YUL)** | Gate 57 | Air France | 05:00 to 22:00 |
| **Toronto (YYZ)** | Terminal 3 | KLM Crown Lounge | 12:00 to 00:00 |
| **Bordeaux (BOD)** | Terminal B | Air France | 05:00 to 20:00 |
| **Bangkok (BKK)** | Terminal F | Air France | Daily |
| **Douala (DLA)** | Main terminal | Air France | 20:30 to 23:30 |
| **Lagos (LOS)** | Terminal D | Air France | 21:00 to 23:00 |
| **Pointe-à-Pitre (PTP)** | Level 1 | Air France | Daily |
| **Fort-de-France (FDF)** | Level 2 | Air France | 13:30 to 20:30 |
| **Cayenne (CAY)** | Main terminal | Air France | 13:30 to 20:30 |
| **Saint-Denis de La Réunion (RUN)** | Level 2 | Air France | Daily |

**Hours change.** The times above come from the April 2026 edition of the official lounge guide. London Heathrow is the newest addition: Air France opened its first own lounge there in Terminal 4 in July 2026, with a spa and a dedicated premium section. Always check the airline's lounge page for your departure airport before you fly.

## Practical tips

### 1\. Arrive early

Lounges can be full, especially during the morning rush. Arrive at least 2 hours before your flight to enjoy the lounge.

### 2\. Check the guest policy

With Gold you may bring 1 guest, but since April 2025 your guest must be booked on the **same flight** as you (previously any SkyTeam flight was enough). Children under 2 are often free. Check the specific rules of the lounge, as they may vary by location. See the [2025 policy changes](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-lounge-access#policy-changes>) section for full details.

### 3\. Use the SkyTeam Lounge Finder

Not sure which lounge is available at your airport? Use the [SkyTeam Lounge Finder](<https://www.skyteam.com/en/lounges/lounge-finder>) to search all 750+ lounges.

### 4\. Showers and sleeping areas

Many intercontinental lounges offer showers, and some have sleeping areas. Ideal after a long flight or during a long layover. Ask at the reception desk about availability.

### 5\. Do not photograph other guests

Privacy is important in the lounge. Do not take photos that show other guests. Most lounges have house rules about this.

## Frequently asked questions

Do you get lounge access with Silver?

**Not for free.** Silver gives a 25% discount on the purchase of lounge access (book at least 25 hours in advance). Free lounge access starts at [Gold](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-gold-status>) (180 XP), with access to 750+ SkyTeam lounges and one guest.

Which lounges can you visit with Gold?

With Gold you have access to **all 750+ SkyTeam lounges** worldwide on international flights with SkyTeam airlines. This includes KLM Crown Lounges, Air France lounges, and lounges of partners like Delta, Korean Air, and China Airlines. You may bring 1 guest.

Do you also get lounge access with a Business Class award ticket?

**Yes, with one new exception.** Every Business Class award booked before September 8, 2026 includes lounge access, regardless of your Flying Blue status. For awards booked from that date, lounge access is included in the Business Standard and Flex options but not in Business Light. From Gold up you get in on status via SkyTeam Elite Plus under the normal lounge conditions.

Does the Flying Blue Amex give lounge access?

The Flying Blue Amex cards do not give direct lounge access. They help indirectly: the Platinum Card gives 60 XP per year toward Gold (= free SkyTeam lounges), and the welcome bonus can provide enough miles for a Business Class award with lounge access.

How much does a day pass for the KLM Crown Lounge cost?

Approximately **EUR 60-75**, depending on the lounge and when you purchase. Booking online via [klm.com](<https://www.klm.com/information/airport/worldwide-lounges>) is often cheaper than at the door. Silver members get a 25% discount.

Can I enter the lounge when flying European routes with Gold?

At Schiphol, Gold members can visit the KLM Crown Lounges even on European flights. At some foreign airports, lounge rules apply only to intercontinental flights. Check the rules for the specific lounge via the [SkyTeam Lounge Finder](<https://www.skyteam.com/en/lounges/lounge-finder>).

What is the 3-hour rule for SkyTeam lounges?

Since April 2025, many SkyTeam lounges enforce a **3-hour pre-departure limit**: you can only enter within 3 hours of your flight. Flying Blue Gold, Platinum, and Ultimate members are **exempt at Air France and KLM lounges**, but not at partner lounges (Korean Air, Aeromexico, Vietnam Airlines, etc.). Business Class passengers at AFKL lounges are also exempt.

Can my guest be on a different flight?

**No, not anymore.** Since April 2025, your guest must be booked on the **same flight** as you. Previously, Flying Blue elites could bring a guest traveling on any SkyTeam flight. The Flying Blue website has been updated to reflect this change. Enforcement varies by lounge, but the official policy is clear.

Can I use the KLM Crown Lounge at Schiphol on arrival?

**No.** Since June 2025, arrival lounge access at Schiphol has been removed for Flying Blue Gold and Platinum members. This was previously a popular benefit for freshening up after a long flight. KLM staff have confirmed the change applies to all status levels.

Do Flying Blue elites get Delta SkyClub access?

**Yes, on international itineraries.** FB Gold, Platinum, and Ultimate members can access Delta SkyClubs when flying an international route, even in Economy class. However, Delta has not opted into the domestic lounge access program, so SkyClubs are not available on domestic US flights. Note that US-Caribbean flights are classified as domestic by SkyTeam.

Do I get lounge access on a domestic flight with Gold?

**At select airports, yes.** Since April 2025, SkyTeam introduced domestic lounge access at participating airlines. Air France, KLM, Vietnam Airlines, and Korean Air have opted in. Delta SkyClubs and Aerolineas Argentinas have not. Check the SkyTeam Lounge Finder for the current list of participating lounges.

At which US airports does Air France have its own lounge?

Six: New York-JFK (Terminal 1), Boston (Terminal E), Washington Dulles (Terminal A), Houston (Terminal D, next to a KLM Crown Lounge), Los Angeles (Tom Bradley) and San Francisco (International Terminal A). At Chicago O'Hare and Miami, Air France uses partner lounges instead. See the [hub finder](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-lounge-access#lounge-finder>).

Can you get paid lounge access refunded?

Only in the official cases. At KLM: a delayed inbound flight kept you from using the lounge, you bought a Business upgrade, your flight was involuntarily rebooked, you were denied entry during a major disruption, or you cancel an unused online purchase within 24 hours. At Air France: your flight is cancelled, modified or delayed, you cancel a Full Flex ticket, a cabin change or upgrade gives you access anyway, the lounge is closed or full, or the lounge is unavailable after a voluntary flight change. Otherwise the purchase is final.
