# Flying Blue sweet spots: the best award tickets

Last updated: 8 October 2026 - 18 min read - Based on [Flying Blue](<https://www.flyingblue.com/en/>) and 15+ independent sources

![Remco de Graaf](/authors/remco-de-graaf.webp)

By [Remco de Graaf](<https://skystatus.pro/about>) Founder of SkyStatus, Flying Blue member since 2005, currently Ultimate. Also Managing Director and co-owner at Reshift Digital. Founder of Zoom.nl (120,000 users) and Zoom Academy (80,000 paying students). Experience includes at least 15 mileage runs and visits to at least 60 countries.

Most Flying Blue members burn their miles on the first redemption the website offers, leaving half the value on the table. The same balance that buys one mediocre economy seat can buy a business-class flat bed on the right partner, or two short-haul trips on the right route. The difference is knowing where the program pays out far above its average. This guide maps those spots by region, so you spend miles where they are worth the most instead of where they are easiest to find.

## What is a sweet spot?

A **sweet spot** is an award ticket where you get above-average value per [Flying Blue mile](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-miles-value>). The average redemption value of a mile is around EUR 0.01. With a sweet spot, you get EUR 0.02 or more, sometimes up to EUR 0.08. This happens with partner airlines that have low surcharges, with [Promo Rewards](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-sweet-spots#promo-rewards>) at a discount, or on routes where the cash price is high relative to the number of miles required.

## Quick facts

## What makes a sweet spot?

Flying Blue has used **dynamic award pricing** since June 2018. There is no fixed award chart anymore: the price in miles varies by flight, by day and by cabin class. Yet there are structural patterns that make certain routes and airlines consistently cheaper than others. Those are the sweet spots.

A route becomes a sweet spot when one or more of these factors come together:

- **Low surcharges** - some partner airlines do not charge a fuel surcharge on award tickets. Air Europa charges just EUR 39 in surcharges for an intercontinental Business Class flight, while KLM charges EUR 200-350.
- **Low miles requirement** - the miles price on partners can be lower than on KLM or Air France. SAS flights within Europe start from 5,000 miles, while KLM asks from 8,000 in Light.
- **High cash price** - a route with a cash price of EUR 3,000 that you book for 60,000 miles delivers EUR 0.05 per mile. That is more than four times the average value.
- **Promo Rewards** - monthly offers with up to 25% discount off the minimum fare. These bring intercontinental Business Class tickets down to 45,000 miles.

How award availability actually works (confirmed by Flying Blue Director)

There is **no fixed quota** of award seats per flight. Availability depends entirely on revenue management and the expected load factor. A useful indicator: if the lowest revenue fare classes are still available for purchase, award tickets are likely available at the base rate too (though this is not a direct correlation, as award seats are a different subset). Platinum and Ultimate members see **lower prices** because they get access to additional higher Business fare buckets, priced at the entry level. Source: Ben Lipsey, Flying Blue Director (Nov 2025).

**Rule of thumb:** the average value of a Flying Blue mile is around [EUR 0.01](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-miles-value>). Anything above that is a good deal. At EUR 0.02+, you have a sweet spot. The best Business Class sweet spots deliver EUR 0.03-0.08 per mile.

### Minimum fares as reference

To assess whether a price is good, you need to know the floor prices. These are the minimum fares for **one-way** flights on Air France and KLM (after the January 2025 increase):

| Route | Economy | Premium Eco | Business |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Within Europe (short) | 8,000 | \- | 20,000 |
| North America | **25,000** | **40,000** | **60,000** |
| Asia | 30,000 | 50,000 | 85,000 |
| Africa | 30,000 | 50,000 | 85,000 |
| South America | 30,000 | 50,000 | 85,000 |

Minimum fares after the January 13, 2025 increase. Prices per one-way, excluding taxes and surcharges. Transatlantic minimums (25,000/40,000/60,000) exactly verified. Asia, Africa and South America (30,000/50,000/85,000) verified on klm.nl in October 2026. Within Europe: Light prices since September 2026, calculated back from the October 2026 Promo Rewards (6,000 and 15,000 miles at 25% off). Source: [flyingblue.com](<https://www.flyingblue.com/en/>), One Mile at a Time, Frequent Miler.

**From September 8, 2026:** new awards on Air France and KLM flights come in three fare options, [Light, Standard and Flex](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-light-standard-flex>). The floor prices in this guide now correspond to the Light option, which includes no checked bag in Economy and no voluntary changes or refunds. Partner sweet spots such as SAS or Air Europa are not affected and keep a single fare.

### Measured: what members actually spend their miles on

Of the award flights SkyStatus members have flown, **46.1%** were in Business or First. Business is where this guide finds the highest value per mile. Between Europe and North America (Mexico included), **59.3%** of members' award journeys since February 2025 cost exactly a floor price or a Promo Reward price. Across those journeys and all cabins, the median was 45,000 miles per passenger. Since June 2025, 26.8% of members' award journeys to Asia, Africa, South America, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean islands cost exactly 85,000 miles, the Business floor price for these destinations. Within Europe, the median over the last 24 months was 13,000 miles per passenger.

_SkyStatus member data, October 2026. Cabins: 141 flown award flights by 46 members, from the flights they logged in SkyStatus. Prices: 297 journeys by 75 members to North America, 280 journeys by 68 members to other long-haul destinations and 637 journeys by 156 members within Europe, counted per passenger, from their own Flying Blue statements. The statements do not show the cabin, so a floor price is recognized by its exact amount. Our members are self-selected optimizers, not a random sample of Flying Blue members._

## Europe: SAS, North Africa and Promo Rewards

### SAS to Scandinavia (since September 2024)

Since [SAS joined SkyTeam](<https://www.skyteam.com/>) in September 2024 as part of the [Air France-KLM acquisition of SAS](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/eurobonus-flying-blue-merger>), you can [spend Flying Blue miles](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/how-to-spend-flying-blue-miles>) on SAS flights. This is one of the best sweet spots for short European flights, for two reasons: the miles price is often lower than on KLM, and the surcharges are minimal.

| Route | Cabin | Miles (one-way) | Surcharges |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Amsterdam - Oslo** | Economy | 4,900 | ~EUR 29 |
| **Amsterdam - Stockholm** | Economy | 5,900 | ~EUR 29 |
| Amsterdam - Copenhagen | Economy | 6,700 | ~EUR 29 |
| Amsterdam - Copenhagen | Business | 14,100 | ~EUR 29 |
| Boston - Stockholm | Economy | 21,300 | ~EUR 29 |
| Chicago - Stockholm | Business | 40,900 | ~EUR 29 |

Surcharges on SAS flights are fixed and low (around EUR 29), regardless of the route.

**Why SAS is a sweet spot:** a KLM flight Amsterdam-Copenhagen costs from 8,000 miles in Light, without a checked bag, plus EUR 50-60 in surcharges. With SAS you pay 6,700 miles and EUR 29. That saves over 15% on miles and half on surcharges. On top of that, SAS includes 23 kg checked baggage.

### North Africa = European fares

This is one of the least known sweet spots: **Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria** are priced as European destinations by Flying Blue. That means an award ticket to Marrakech or Casablanca costs the same as a short European flight: from around **8,000 miles** one-way in Economy Light.

Cash tickets to Morocco easily cost EUR 300-500 return during peak season. With miles you pay a fraction. This makes North Africa one of the best destinations for your miles from Amsterdam.

### Intra-European Promo Rewards

Short flights within Europe regularly appear as [Promo Rewards](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-sweet-spots#promo-rewards>). With 25% off the minimum fare, you then pay:

- **Economy:** from 6,000 miles one-way (normally from 8,000 in Light)
- **Business:** from 15,000 miles one-way (normally from 20,000 in Light)

## North America: transatlantic and Delta

### KLM and Air France transatlantic

The transatlantic route from Amsterdam is one of the most popular award bookings. After the January 2025 increase, the minimum fares are:

| Cabin | Minimum (one-way) | Promo (25% off) | Surcharges (from AMS) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Economy | 25,000 miles | 18,750 miles | ~EUR 100 |
| Premium Economy | 40,000 miles | 30,000 miles | ~EUR 150 |
| **Business** | **60,000 miles** | **45,000 miles** | **~EUR 200-350** |

Prices after the January 13, 2025 increase. Business Class went from 50,000 to 60,000 miles (+20%). Promo prices are 25% off the minimum fare. Source: One Mile at a Time, The Points Guy.

Example calculation: Business Class AMS-JFK

A cash ticket for KLM Business Class Amsterdam-New York costs around **EUR 3,000+** one-way during peak season. With a Promo Reward you pay **45,000 miles + ~EUR 250 surcharges**. If you value the miles at EUR 0.012 each, you effectively "pay" about EUR 790 for a ticket worth EUR 3,000. That is a value of **EUR 0.06 per mile**, five times the average value.

![SkyStatus Your awards, Travelled tab searched for YYZ: AMS-YYZ Business, 18 Nov 2025, 180,000 miles, value €5,714, 3.17 ct per mile.](/guide/images/sweet-spots-award-ams-yyz-202610.webp?v=86f97d574f94df95)

A flown Amsterdam to Toronto Business award in SkyStatus: 180,000 miles returned €5,714 in value, or 3.17 cents per mile. That clears the 2 cents this guide counts as a sweet spot.

### Delta via Flying Blue: no fuel surcharge

This is one of the smartest ways to spend Flying Blue miles: book **[Delta flights via Flying Blue](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/use-flying-blue-miles-on-delta>)** instead of through Delta SkyMiles. The advantage: Delta charges **no fuel surcharge** through Flying Blue, making the total cost significantly lower.

Delta is especially interesting for:

- **Domestic US flights** - from 7,500 miles one-way, ideal for continuing your journey after an intercontinental flight
- **US to Mexico** - JFK-Mexico City from around 12,500 miles one-way
- **Transatlantic flights** - sometimes cheaper than KLM/AF, especially in Economy

**Flying Blue vs Delta SkyMiles:** the same Delta flight is regularly cheaper through Flying Blue than through Delta's own program. Example: Atlanta-Munich Economy costs around 26,000 Flying Blue miles, while Delta SkyMiles asks 41,000 miles for the same seat. Always check both programs.

**Departing from Paris is more expensive:** the French aviation tax makes departures from CDG significantly more expensive than from AMS. On a Business Class return to the US, this difference is EUR 100-200. Where possible, choose KLM from Amsterdam over Air France from Paris.

## Caribbean: ABC islands and French Caribbean

For Dutch travelers, the direct KLM flights to the **Caribbean** are among the most attractive award destinations. KLM flies nonstop from Amsterdam to Curacao, Aruba, Bonaire and Sint Maarten.

| Route | Cabin | Indicative miles (one-way) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Amsterdam - Curacao | Economy | from 30,000 |
| **Amsterdam - Curacao (Promo)** | **Economy** | **from ~22,500** |
| Amsterdam - Aruba | Economy | from 30,000 |
| Amsterdam - Bonaire | Economy | from 30,000 |

Caribbean routes are dynamically priced. The listed prices are indicative minimums. Promo fares appear regularly on these routes. Source: [flyingblue.com](<https://www.flyingblue.com/en/>).

Air France also flies to **Martinique, Guadeloupe and Saint Martin** from Paris. These French Caribbean routes regularly appear as Promo Rewards.

**Strategy:** Caribbean routes are very popular during peak season (December-March) and the dynamic price can increase significantly. Book as early as possible (up to 359 days ahead) or wait for a Promo Reward. The [calendar trick](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-award-availability>) helps you find the cheapest day.

## South America: Air Europa from Madrid

This is the most frequently cited sweet spot in the entire Flying Blue program: **Air Europa Business Class from Madrid to South America**. Why? Two words: no fuel surcharge.

Top sweet spot: Air Europa Business to South America

43,000 - 60,000 miles EUR 39 - 60 surcharges Value: up to EUR 0.08/mile

Air Europa flies from Madrid to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Lima, Bogota and other South American cities. Because Air Europa charges **no fuel surcharge** on award tickets, you pay just EUR 39-60 in surcharges for a Business Class seat. By comparison, KLM charges EUR 200-400 in surcharges on the same route.

Cash tickets for these flights easily cost EUR 2,000-4,000 one-way in Business Class. At 60,000 miles + EUR 60, this is one of the best uses of your Flying Blue miles.

The downside: you need to get to Madrid yourself. From Amsterdam, you can solve this with:

- A separate cheap ticket to Madrid (budget airline or KLM with miles)
- A **free stopover** in Paris or Amsterdam on your award ticket, if you fly via Air France or KLM to Madrid (book by phone)

**Copa Airlines** is another interesting partner for South America. Via the hub in Panama City, you can fly to destinations like Rio de Janeiro (from 18,000 miles Economy one-way) with reasonable surcharges.

**How do you get to 60,000 miles?** The fastest way to accumulate miles without flying is through everyday credit card spending. Earning 1-1.5 miles per euro on regular purchases adds up quickly, and welcome bonuses can get you to your first intercontinental award in no time.

## Asia: China Airlines, Vietnam Airlines and intra-Asia

### China Airlines: Business Class to Taiwan

China Airlines offers an excellent Business Class to Taipei for **57,500 miles + around EUR 200 surcharges** one-way from Europe. Flights depart from Prague and Vienna, which requires a short positioning flight from Amsterdam.

**Watch the availability:** China Airlines often opens award seats only a few weeks before departure, not months in advance. This makes planning ahead difficult. Monitor availability via [Seats.aero](<https://seats.aero/>) or [AwardFares](<https://awardfares.com/>).

### Vietnam Airlines: Business Class to Vietnam

Vietnam Airlines Business Class from Europe costs around **64,000 miles + EUR 200-316 surcharges** one-way. Flights depart from cities like Frankfurt and Paris. Cash tickets for the same route cost EUR 2,000-3,000, pushing the value per mile well above EUR 0.03.

### KLM and Air France to East Asia

KLM flies nonstop from Amsterdam to Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, among others. Minimum fares are 30,000 miles in Economy and 85,000 in Business. With Promo Rewards, these prices drop by 25%.

### Intra-Asian flights: hidden gems

One of the least known sweet spots are **short flights within Asia** on SkyTeam partners. The miles price is low and surcharges are minimal:

| Route | Miles (one-way) | Surcharges |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Short routes (e.g. domestic)** | from 6,000 | **~EUR 15** |
| Ho Chi Minh City - Seoul | 13,500 | ~EUR 15 |
| Seoul - Bali | 17,000 | ~EUR 52 |
| Stockholm - Tokyo (SAS) | 27,100 | ~EUR 29 |

Prices verified February 2026.

**Combine them:** fly with KLM or Air France to an Asian hub (e.g. Bangkok or Singapore) and separately book a cheap intra-Asian flight with miles. This way you build a flexible round trip using miles as payment for each segment.

## Africa: Kenya Airways and North Africa

### Kenya Airways: the best partner for Africa

[Kenya Airways](<https://www.kenya-airways.com/>) is a SkyTeam partner that offers excellent value for flights within and to Africa. Surcharges are low and miles prices are competitive.

| Route | Cabin | Miles (one-way) | Surcharges |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Nairobi - Zanzibar** | Economy | 5,000 | EUR 110 |
| Nairobi - Mahe (Seychelles) | Economy | 12,500 | EUR 85 |

Cash tickets Nairobi-Zanzibar cost around EUR 220. With 5,000 miles + EUR 110, you save roughly half, including 2x23 kg checked baggage. Prices verified February 2026.

Combine a KLM flight to Nairobi with Kenya Airways flights to East African destinations. The KLM flight Amsterdam-Nairobi costs from 30,000 miles in Economy, and then you hop onward with Kenya Airways for 5,000-12,500 miles per segment.

### North Africa: European fares

As mentioned earlier, **Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria** are priced as European destinations by Flying Blue. This is a structural advantage you can use again and again:

- Amsterdam - Marrakech: from around **8,000 miles** Economy one-way in Light
- Amsterdam - Casablanca: comparable prices
- Cash tickets during peak season: EUR 300-500 return

KLM, Air France and their [partner airlines](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-partner-airlines>) offer extensive networks to North Africa. The combination of low miles prices and high cash prices makes this a consistent sweet spot.

## Pacific: Air Tahiti and Oceania

### Air Tahiti: island-hopping in French Polynesia

A unique and little-known sweet spot: you can spend Flying Blue miles on **Air Tahiti**, the regional airline of French Polynesia. This opens the possibility of island-hopping between Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora and the Cook Islands.

| Route | Miles (one-way) | Surcharges |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Papeete - Moorea** | 6,000 | ~USD 29 |
| Papeete - Bora Bora | 15,000 | ~USD 36 |
| Papeete - Cook Islands | 30,000 | variable |

Source: One Mile at a Time, Frequent Miler.

**Dream trip with miles:** fly with Air France from Paris to Papeete (Tahiti), and then island-hop with Air Tahiti to Moorea and Bora Bora. The regional flights cost just 6,000-15,000 miles each. Cash tickets for these short flights are relatively expensive, which drives up the value per mile.

### Oceania via partners

For Australia and New Zealand, there are multiple options via Flying Blue partners:

- **China Airlines** via Taipei to Brisbane or Auckland: Business Class from 57,500 miles + around EUR 85 surcharges
- **Jakarta - Sydney** via partners: Business Class from 35,500 miles + around EUR 85

## Promo Rewards: the monthly discount

[Promo Rewards](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-promo-rewards>) are the **fastest route to a sweet spot**. Every month, Flying Blue publishes a set of routes with up to 25% off the minimum fare. Only available on Air France and KLM flights.

### How do Promo Rewards work?

- **Publication:** on the 1st of each month on [flyingblue.com](<https://www.flyingblue.com/en/spend/flights/rewards>)
- **Discount:** up to 25% under the current terms (older promotions went as far as 50%)
- **Booking window:** within the calendar month of publication
- **Travel period:** usually up to around 6 months after the publication date
- **Extra benefit:** [Flying Blue Extra](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-extra>) members get access to exclusive Promo Rewards not available to regular members

### Typical Promo Rewards pricing

| Route | Cabin | Normal minimum | Promo (25% off) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Within Europe (short) | Economy | 8,000 | 6,000 |
| Within Europe (short) | Business | 20,000 | 15,000 |
| Intercontinental | Economy | 25,000 | 18,750 |
| **Intercontinental** | **Business** | **60,000** | **45,000** |

Promo Rewards prices are based on 25% off the minimum fare. Older promotions went as far as 50% off. Source: The Points Guy, One Mile at a Time.

**Strategy:** popular Promo Rewards in Business Class sell out quickly. Check on the 1st of the month and book immediately. Visit [flyingblue.com](<https://www.flyingblue.com/en/spend/flights/rewards>) on the 1st for the latest destinations.

## 7 booking tips for maximum value

### 1\. Use the calendar trick

Search on [klm.com](<https://www.klm.com/>) with "Book with miles", 1 passenger, one-way and leave the date field empty. You get a calendar overview across 11 months. Read the full explanation in our [guide to award availability](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-award-availability>).

Booking as far ahead as that calendar allows did not work best for members. In SkyStatus members' statements, across all cabins, the share of journeys to North America and other long-haul destinations at exactly a floor or Promo price was highest for bookings made 2 to 6 months before departure. Treat this as an indication, not a firm result: the smallest group in that comparison has 27 members (October 2026).

### 2\. Always search one-way

Flying Blue prices awards per direction. By searching one-way, you can book outbound and return on different dates, in different cabins (Economy outbound, Business return) or even fly with different airlines.

### 3\. Compare KLM with partner airlines

The same destination can be significantly cheaper via a partner. Always compare KLM/Air France with partners like Air Europa, SAS, Delta and Kenya Airways. Look not just at the miles, but also at the surcharges.

### 4\. Be flexible with dates

The difference between Tuesday and Friday can be 50% or more. Midweek flights (Tuesday, Wednesday) are often cheaper, but it is not a fixed rule. During low season, you find the floor prices.

Member data backs up the midweek pattern and adds Thursday to it. For departures on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, **63.6%** of SkyStatus members' award journeys to North America and other long-haul destinations cost exactly a floor or Promo price, compared with 44.1% on other days (October 2026).

### 5\. Check Promo Rewards on the 1st of the month

Popular routes in Business Class sell out within days. Check on the 1st and book without hesitation. Visit [flyingblue.com](<https://www.flyingblue.com/en/spend/flights/rewards>) on the 1st of each month.

### 6\. Calculate your value per mile

Divide the cash price of the ticket by the number of miles. Above EUR 0.01 is good, above EUR 0.02 is a sweet spot. More about the calculation in our [guide to cost per mile](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-cost-per-mile>).

![SkyStatus bar chart What each mile returned: YYZ at about 3.2 ct per mile, two last-minute upgrades at about 0.7 ct, dashed cost line at 0.15 ct.](/guide/images/value-per-mile-chart-202610.webp?v=99391195d877d1dd)

The “What each mile returned” chart in SkyStatus: one bar per award, with gridlines at 1 and 2 cents per mile. The Toronto Business award passes 3 cents, the last-minute upgrades stay under 1 cent, and the dashed line shows what the miles cost: 0.15 cents.

### 7\. Consider a free stopover

Flying Blue allows a [free stopover](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-stopover>) of at least 24 hours in Amsterdam or Paris on award tickets. This must be booked by phone. Example: fly to Bangkok with a few days in Paris as an intermediate stop, on a single award ticket.

**Stopover rule: no backtracking.** According to Flying Blue Director Ben Lipsey, "no backtracking" means you cannot go back the way you came. Example: NYC-CDG-BER with a stopover in Berlin, then continuing BER-CDG-LHR is not allowed because CDG-BER-CDG retraces the route. Stopover tickets are booked by phone. Flying Blue acknowledges that agents are not always well trained on stopover rules and is actively working on improving this.

**Child discount:** children aged 2-11 get a **25% discount** on the award fare in miles. This applies in all cabins, both on KLM/Air France and on partners. Infants (0-2) fly free on a lap (taxes and surcharges only).

## Frequently asked questions

What is a Flying Blue sweet spot?

A sweet spot is an award ticket where you get above-average [value per mile](<https://skystatus.pro/calculator>): EUR 0.02 or more, instead of the average EUR 0.01. This occurs with partner airlines that have low surcharges (Air Europa, SAS, Kenya Airways), with [Promo Rewards](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-sweet-spots#promo-rewards>) offering up to 25% discounts, or on routes where the cash price is relatively high.

Which partner airline is the best sweet spot?

**Air Europa** is the most commonly cited sweet spot. Business Class from Madrid to South America starts at 43,000 miles with just EUR 39-60 in surcharges. **SAS** is the best choice for short European flights (from 5,000 miles, EUR 29 surcharges). **Kenya Airways** offers flights within Africa from 5,000 miles.

How do I find the cheapest award tickets?

Use the [calendar trick](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-award-availability>) on klm.com, check Promo Rewards on the 1st of each month, and always compare partner airlines. Search with 1 passenger, one-way and leave the date field empty for the best overview.

Are Promo Rewards the cheapest award tickets?

On KLM and Air France flights, yes: Promo Rewards offer up to 25% off the minimum fare. But partner airlines like Air Europa can sometimes work out even cheaper when you factor in surcharges.

Does North Africa count as Europe in Flying Blue?

Yes. Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria are priced as European destinations. An award ticket to Marrakech costs from around 8,000 miles one-way in Economy Light, comparable to a short European flight.

How does Flying Blue award availability work?

There is no fixed quota of award seats. Availability is determined by revenue management and depends on the expected load factor of each flight. If the lowest revenue fare classes are still open for sale, award tickets are typically available at the base rate too. However, award seats are a separate subset from revenue tickets, so the correlation is not direct. This was confirmed by Flying Blue Director Ben Lipsey in November 2025.

Do Platinum and Ultimate members get cheaper award tickets?

Yes. Platinum and Ultimate members get access to **additional higher Business fare buckets**, but priced at the entry level. This means they may see a lower award price than Gold or Silver members for the same flight. This is not a discount on the regular price, but access to inventory that other members cannot see.

SkyStatus member data points the same way. Of award journeys to North America and other long-haul destinations booked by members who were Platinum or Ultimate when they joined SkyStatus, **58.9%** cost exactly a floor or Promo price, compared with 45.7% for other members (October 2026). Part of that gap probably reflects experience, so these numbers alone do not prove that the extra fare buckets make the difference.
