# How to Import Your Flying Blue Data

By [Remco de Graaf](<https://skystatus.pro/about>) Founder of SkyStatus, Flying Blue member since 2005, currently Ultimate. Also Managing Director and co-owner at Reshift Digital. Founder of Zoom.nl (120,000 users) and Zoom Academy (80,000 paying students). Experience includes at least 15 mileage runs and visits to at least 60 countries.

Flying Blue hands you a PDF activity statement, not a clean data export, and typing every flight, mile and XP entry into a tracker by hand is exactly the busywork you want to skip. The good news is you do not have to. With the right statement and a few minutes, your full earning history loads into [SkyStatus](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-tracker>) and starts working for your [status forecast](<https://skystatus.pro/tools/status-check>). This guide walks you through it, including the one download mistake that quietly leaves half your history behind.

## Quick Summary

Download your Flying Blue activity statement PDF and upload it under Your data in SkyStatus. SkyStatus checks the statement against its own totals and imports your flights, [miles and XP](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-beginners-guide>) for you, often within minutes.

**⚠️ Important: The import is a kickstart, not a guarantee**

Due to variations in PDF formats, a 100% accurate import is not always possible. **Always review your transactions** after importing and manually adjust or delete any incorrect entries. The review reconciles your statement so transactions are not double-counted, but always check after an import.

## Step-by-Step Instructions

1

### Download your PDF from Flying Blue

1. Go to [flyingblue.com](<https://www.flyingblue.com/en/>) and log in
2. Navigate to **My Account** → **Activity Overview**
3. **⚠️ Critical:** Click the **"More"** button repeatedly until ALL your activities are loaded!
4. Click **"Download"** to save the PDF to your computer

2

### Upload PDF to SkyStatus

In SkyStatus, open **Your data**, choose **Full import** and select your downloaded PDF file.

Microsoft Azure Document Intelligence reads your PDF and extracts the text and tables. SkyStatus then imports your statement automatically, and you receive an email when it is ready. This often happens within minutes. A complex statement gets a manual check.

**💡 Tip:** SkyStatus reads statements in any Flying Blue language. English, French and Dutch are read most accurately. A statement in another language may take a little longer to finish, so upload the PDF you have.

![SkyStatus Update from a source: Quick update adds what is new since your last statement, Full statement import reads a complete statement again.](/guide/images/update-from-a-source-202610.webp?v=7af5eae268a57039)

Your data offers two ways to read a statement: Quick update adds what is new since your last statement, Full statement import reads a complete statement again, with your qualification year.

3

### Let SkyStatus check your statement

There is nothing to click through. After the upload, the screen says **Your statement is with us**. SkyStatus reads your history, checks every row against the totals printed on the statement, and sets your status, XP and [qualification year](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-qualification-year>), including any [rollover XP/UXP](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-xp-rollover>). You can close the screen. You get an email when the import is ready, or when we need something from you.

- **The totals add up:** the import normally goes onto your account by itself.
- **The totals do not add up, or the statement is complex:** it gets a manual check first. You do not need to upload the PDF again.
- **The PDF stops before your last status change:** SkyStatus asks for a longer PDF, or for the date you reached your current status.

**✓ No double-counting:** The review reconciles your statement against what you already imported, so transactions are not double-counted.

![SkyStatus How these points are counted: from 8 October 2025 to 31 October 2026, 23 XP carried in, Ultimate year 3 August 2026 to 31 August 2027.](/guide/images/mileage-run-rollover-cap-202610.webp?v=27a4b6204f48c114)

What the import sets up, as Status Progress shows it: the XP year counted from 8 October 2025 to 31 October 2026 with 23 XP carried in, and an Ultimate year from 3 August 2026 to 31 August 2027 on dates from the statement.

4

### Check the result

When the import is ready, you get an email. If you kept the screen open, it now says **Your account is updated**, and **View my account** takes you back in. Your flights, miles and XP then show throughout SkyStatus, from Overview to Status Progress. For later statements, use **Quick update** under Your data. It adds only what is new since your last statement, and you review the result before anything changes.

**After importing:** Check your Miles ledger and Flights for accuracy. Edit or delete any incorrect entries.

![SkyStatus Miles ledger, September 2026: KLM flights marked Managed in Flights, Amex Platinum card spend with edit buttons, a €28 Recurring fee.](/guide/images/import-pdf-ledger-september-202610.webp?v=3a1fb7f1c6cb42ee)

One month in the Miles ledger after an import: flights link through to Flights, card spend keeps its own edit controls, and the monthly card fee of €28 shows as a recurring cost.

**🔒 Privacy & Security**

Your PDF is sent to Microsoft Azure Document Intelligence (in the EU) for text extraction. Azure processes the document transiently and does not keep the file. SkyStatus stores the original PDF and the extracted data securely (private and access-controlled) so we can set up your account and resolve any import issues. You can remove stored import files under Settings > Privacy, and you can request deletion at any time. The member figures in our guides only ever combine many accounts and never describe one member. [How SkyStatus measures member data](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-data-methodology>) explains the rules.

See our [privacy policy](<https://skystatus.pro/privacy>) for full details.

## Why Azure Document Intelligence?

Flying Blue PDFs have complex layouts with tables, multiple columns, and varying formats across languages. Azure Document Intelligence reads such documents and extracts the text, then SkyStatus imports it automatically:

- **Reliable extraction:** Reads table structures and relationships between data
- **Multi-language:** Reads statements in any Flying Blue language, most accurately in English, French and Dutch
- **Format resilient:** Handles PDF variations and layout changes over time
- **EU hosted:** Processing in the EU for GDPR compliance

## What Gets Imported

SkyStatus extracts from your statement:

- Flight dates and routes
- Miles earned and spent
- [XP](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/what-is-flying-blue-xp>) and [UXP](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-uxp-explained>) earned per activity
- Cabin class and operating airline
- Bonus XP (welcome bonus, promos, etc.)
- [Partner transactions](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/how-to-earn-flying-blue-miles>) (credit cards, hotels, car rentals)
- Miles purchases and transfers

![SkyStatus PDF import in 3 steps: download the statement from flyingblue.com, upload it, then SkyStatus imports it automatically.](/guide/images/pdf-import-steps-en-202610.svg?v=ec03573bf251b47c)

The 3-step import process: download your Flying Blue PDF, upload it for text extraction by Azure Document Intelligence, then SkyStatus imports it automatically. It often happens within minutes.

## Troubleshooting

### Import fails or shows error

- Make sure you're uploading a PDF file, not an image or screenshot
- Try downloading a fresh PDF from Flying Blue
- Check your internet connection — the PDF needs to be sent to Azure for processing
- Very large PDFs (100+ pages) may take longer. Be patient during processing.

### Data looks incomplete or wrong

- Did you click "More" on Flying Blue until ALL activities were loaded?
- Make sure you downloaded the Activity Statement, not a booking confirmation
- Compare your miles on Miles Balance and your XP on Status Progress with your actual Flying Blue balance

### Processing takes a long time

| PDF Size | Expected Time |
| --- | --- |
| Small (1-10 pages) | 5-15 seconds |
| Medium (10-50 pages) | 15-45 seconds |
| Large (50-100+ pages) | 45-90 seconds |

Once the upload has finished, your PDF is saved. If the check takes longer, close the screen. You get an email when the import is ready, and you do not need to upload the PDF again.

**⚠️ Always verify your data**

The import feature is designed as a **kickstart** to quickly populate your account. It is not a replacement for careful data management. After every import, review your transactions in the Miles ledger and Flights and correct any errors.

## FAQ

Is my PDF data safe?

Yes. You can remove stored import files under Settings > Privacy, and request deletion at any time.

What languages are supported?

SkyStatus reads statements in any Flying Blue language. English, French and Dutch are read most accurately. A statement in another language may take a little longer to finish, so upload the PDF you have. You do not need to switch your flyingblue.com language first.

What if I import the same statement twice?

SkyStatus reconciles your statement against what you already imported, so transactions are not double-counted. When you upload a PDF that overlaps with an earlier import, the review accounts for what is already in your account.

Is the import 100% accurate?

No. The import is a kickstart to quickly populate your account. Due to variations in PDF formats, 100% accuracy cannot be guaranteed. SkyStatus checks every statement against the totals printed on it before anything changes on your account. After an import, check Flights and the Miles ledger and correct or delete any wrong entry.

Can I import without using cloud services?

The PDF import requires Azure for accurate parsing. If you prefer not to use cloud services, you can add flights by hand with "Add flight" on the Flights page, or import a JSON backup file under Settings > Account and data.

Import process may vary based on PDF format changes by Flying Blue. SkyStatus is not affiliated with Air France-KLM or Flying Blue.

### Where do I find my Flying Blue statement PDF?

Log in to your Flying Blue account at [flyingblue.com](<https://www.flyingblue.com/en/>), navigate to your account overview, and look for Activity Statement or Monthly Statement. You can download statements for specific months or date ranges as PDF files. Statements are typically available within a few days after the end of each month. Save them to your device before uploading to SkyStatus.

### How long does the import process take?

Uploading the PDF takes a few seconds. Azure Document Intelligence then reads it and extracts the text. SkyStatus then imports your statement automatically. It often appears within minutes, and you receive an email when it is ready. A complex statement gets a manual check. The data then shows throughout SkyStatus, starting with Overview.

### Can I import Flying Blue statements from previous years?

Yes. SkyStatus supports statements from any date, going back as far as your Flying Blue membership. Historical statements are particularly useful for building a complete flight history and tracking your lifetime UXP progress toward Ultimate status. The review reconciles each statement so older transactions are not double-counted against data you have already imported from more recent statements.

## What Data Gets Imported

The Flying Blue PDF parser extracts several types of data from your activity statement. Understanding what gets imported helps you check the result on your account after the import.

### Transaction details

Each transaction row includes the posting date, description (typically the flight route or earning activity), miles earned or spent, and XP earned. The parser identifies flight segments separately from non-flight earning activities such as credit card spend, shopping portal purchases, or hotel partner earnings.

### Statement summary data

The parser also extracts your total miles balance, total XP for the statement period, your Flying Blue membership status, and your member name. This summary data is used for verification purposes and helps SkyStatus confirm that the individual transactions match the official totals on your statement. When the sum of the individual transactions and the statement total disagree, the statement gets a manual check before anything changes on your account.

![SkyStatus panel How your balance adds up: 38,541 opening miles, plus 2,270,666 earned, minus 1,740,000 out, equals 569,207, marked Adds up.](/guide/images/balance-adds-up-202610.webp?v=093040f29296c5fb)

The check against the statement in practice: the opening balance from my first statement, plus 2,270,666 miles earned, minus 1,740,000 miles out, lands exactly on the recorded 569,207 miles. When the sum and the balance agree, SkyStatus marks it Adds up.

### Automatic categorization

Imported transactions are automatically categorized based on their description. Flight transactions are linked to your flight log with origin and destination airports. Non-flight transactions are categorized as credit card, shopping, hotel, or other earning types. This categorization feeds Miles Balance, where Miles by source shows what each source earned you and Where your miles come from and go shows your miles month by month.
