You have RevPoints sitting in your Revolut app, or you are weighing whether a paid Revolut plan is worth it, and the real question is simple. Do those points actually turn into Flying Blue miles you can fly on, and is the math in your favour? It can be, but only on the right plan and the right spend. Get it wrong and you pay a monthly fee to earn miles slower than a free credit card would. This guide walks through where Revolut beats the Flying Blue Amex, where it loses, and which plan pays for itself.

## Summary

Revolut RevPoints transfer to Flying Blue miles at a **1:1 ratio**: 1,000 RevPoints become 1,000 Flying Blue miles. How many RevPoints you earn depends on your Revolut plan: the free Standard plan earns just 1 point per EUR 10 spent, while Ultra (EUR 65/month) earns 1 point per EUR 1. Beyond RevPoints, Revolut's paid plans include **travel insurance, fee-free currency exchange, and rental car excess coverage**, making them genuinely useful for frequent travellers. This guide covers everything: earning rates, plan comparison, insurance details, and how Revolut compares to the [Flying Blue Amex cards](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/how-to-earn-flying-blue-miles>).

## Revolut plans and pricing (2026)

Revolut offers five plans. The table below shows the current monthly subscription cost for each plan in the Netherlands. Annual billing gives a discount on Plus, Premium, and Metal.

| Plan | Monthly price | Annual price (paid upfront) | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Standard | Free | Free | Basic banking and occasional travel |
| Plus | EUR 3.99 | EUR 40 | Slightly more features, same low earning rate |
| Premium | EUR 10.99 | EUR 110 | Regular travellers who want insurance and better exchange |
| Metal | EUR 19.99 | EUR 195 | Frequent travellers wanting trip cancellation cover |
| Ultra | EUR 65.00 | EUR 650 | Heavy spenders maximizing miles and travel perks |

### Annual billing saves money

Annual plans are paid as a single upfront payment, saving 16-19% compared to monthly billing. For example, Ultra costs EUR 650/year instead of EUR 780 (12 x EUR 65), saving EUR 130. Metal drops from EUR 239.88 to EUR 195/year, saving EUR 44.88. Note: early cancellation of a paid plan within 10 months may result in a fee.

![Revolut app showing 215 RevPoints balance on Metal plan with earning, redeeming, and plan perks options](/guide/images/revolut-revpoints-overview-metal-plan.webp?v=ad37e22c6d11c027)

Author's Revolut app: 215 RevPoints on the Metal plan. You earn 1 point per EUR 2 spent.

**Author's real experience:** I use the Revolut Metal plan (EUR 19.99/month) primarily for its 1 RevPoint per EUR 2 spent rate. At Metal tier, everyday spending like groceries and dining automatically earns RevPoints that transfer 1:1 to Flying Blue miles. The screenshot shows my actual balance before transferring to Flying Blue.

![Revolut RevPoints to Flying Blue miles conversion rates: Standard and Plus earn 1 point per EUR 10 (poor), Premium 1 per EUR 4 (fair), Metal 1 per EUR 2 (good), Ultra 1 per EUR 1 (best), all transferring at 1:1 ratio](/guide/images/revpoints-conversion-en.svg?v=125c664e14bf8949)

RevPoints earning rates and cost per Flying Blue mile by Revolut plan. Only Metal (EUR 2/mile) and Ultra (EUR 1/mile) offer meaningful miles earning at 1:1 transfer.

## RevPoints earning rates by Revolut plan

The number of RevPoints you earn per payment depends entirely on your Revolut subscription plan. Since RevPoints transfer to Flying Blue miles at 1:1, the table below also shows the effective [cost per Flying Blue mile](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-cost-per-mile>):

| Revolut plan | Monthly cost | RevPoints per EUR | Cost per Flying Blue mile |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Standard (free) | EUR 0 | 1 per EUR 10 | EUR 10.00 per mile |
| Plus | EUR 3.99 | 1 per EUR 10 | EUR 10.00 per mile |
| Premium | EUR 10.99 | 1 per EUR 4 | EUR 4.00 per mile |
| Metal | EUR 19.99 | 1 per EUR 2 | EUR 2.00 per mile |
| Ultra | EUR 65.00 | 1 per EUR 1 | EUR 1.00 per mile |

### Reality check: Standard and Plus are poor value for miles

At 1 point per EUR 10, you would need to spend EUR 120,000 to earn enough miles for a single [round-trip Europe flight](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/how-to-spend-flying-blue-miles>) (2x 6,000 miles at the Promo price). Only Metal and Ultra plans offer earning rates that make RevPoints a meaningful source of miles.

RevPoints are earned on card payments only. Bank transfers, ATM withdrawals, and cryptocurrency transactions do not earn points. Points are credited instantly after each transaction.

![Revolut app Flying Blue transfer screen showing 215 RevPoints converting to 215 Flying Blue miles at 1:1 ratio](/guide/images/revolut-transfer-flying-blue-215-miles.webp?v=1f05a21421b93464)

The actual transfer screen: 215 RevPoints become 215 Flying Blue miles at a 1:1 ratio. The transfer completes instantly.

## How to transfer RevPoints to Flying Blue miles

Transferring RevPoints to Flying Blue is straightforward:

1. **Open the Revolut app** and navigate to the RevPoints section (Hub tab).
2. **Select "Transfer to partner"** and choose Flying Blue from the list of airline partners.
3. **Link your Flying Blue account** (first time only). Your name must match between Revolut and Flying Blue.
4. **Enter the number of RevPoints** you want to transfer.
5. **Confirm the transfer**. Miles typically appear in your Flying Blue account within minutes.

### Transfer details

- **Ratio:** 1 RevPoint = 1 Flying Blue mile
- **Minimum:** no minimum transfer amount
- **Speed:** typically instant, occasionally up to 24 hours
- **Reversible:** no, transfers cannot be undone
- **Name match:** required between Revolut and Flying Blue accounts

Measured among SkyStatus members: transfers in from a bank, card or hotel program are rare. Fewer than one in twenty members who imported their Flying Blue statements have made one (18 members with such a transfer, October 2026). On a Flying Blue statement, a RevPoints transfer often appears as a Share & Collect line from Revolut.

## Travel insurance: Premium vs Metal vs Ultra

One of the biggest reasons to choose a paid Revolut plan as a traveller is the included **travel insurance**. The differences between plans are significant and often misunderstood. Here is the full comparison based on the official policy documents:

### Coverage overview

| Coverage | Standard / Plus | Premium | Metal | Ultra |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Trip cancellation | None | EUR 5,000 | EUR 5,000 | **Not included** |
| Trip interruption | None | EUR 5,000 | EUR 5,000 | EUR 5,000 |
| Medical emergency abroad | None | EUR 10,000,000 | EUR 10,000,000 | Per max limit |
| Emergency dental | None | EUR 300 | EUR 300 | EUR 300 |
| Baggage protection | None | EUR 1,000 | EUR 1,000 | EUR 1,000 |
| Baggage delay threshold | N/A | 8 hours | 8 hours | **4 hours** |
| Baggage delay payout (with receipt) | N/A | EUR 400 | EUR 400 | EUR 400 |
| Travel delay threshold | N/A | 8 hours | 8 hours | **4 hours** |
| Travel delay payout (max) | N/A | EUR 500 | EUR 500 | EUR 500 |
| Personal liability | None | Not included | EUR 1,000,000 | EUR 1,000,000 |
| Lost travel documents | None | EUR 500 | EUR 500 | EUR 500 |
| Search and rescue | None | EUR 5,000 | EUR 5,000 | EUR 5,000 |
| Sports coverage | None | EUR 1,500 | EUR 1,500 | EUR 1,500 |
| Rental car excess | None | Not included | Included | Included |
| Max trip duration | N/A | 30 days | 30 days | **90 days** |

### Surprise: Ultra does not cover trip cancellation

Despite being the most expensive plan, Revolut Ultra does **not** include trip cancellation insurance. If you book a EUR 2,000 holiday and need to cancel due to illness, Ultra will not reimburse you. Metal and Premium do cover this (up to EUR 5,000). This is a major gap to be aware of. If trip cancellation matters to you, Metal is the better choice, or make sure you have separate cancellation coverage.

### Insurance conditions to know

- **Pay with Revolut:** you must book your main transport and accommodation with your Revolut card to activate the insurance. If your card is stolen, this requirement is waived (with police report).
- **Deductible:** 10% of the claim amount, capped at EUR 50 per claim.
- **Pre-existing conditions:** not covered. Claims related to medical conditions that existed before opening your account or booking are excluded.
- **Domestic travel:** only covered if you travel more than 100 km from your home address or book an overnight stay.
- **Travel companions:** other ticket holders are covered when travelling with the plan holder who paid for the trip.
- **Children:** covered if 17 years or younger.
- **Residence:** you must be an EEA resident.
- **Insurer:** Steadfast Insurance Partners Ltd (Malta), managed by Cover Genius Europe B.V. (Amsterdam), regulated by the AFM.

### Our take: Metal is the sweet spot for Flying Blue travellers

At EUR 19.99 per month, Metal gives you the best balance: trip cancellation coverage (which Ultra lacks), rental car excess insurance, EUR 1M personal liability, a solid earning rate (1 RevPoint per EUR 2), and unlimited fee-free currency exchange. The 30-day trip limit is fine for most holidays. Ultra only makes sense if you need the 90-day trip duration (digital nomads, long-haul backpackers) or want maximum RevPoints earning.

## Currency exchange and ATM fees

For Flying Blue members who travel frequently, Revolut's exchange rates and ATM policies matter just as much as miles:

### Currency exchange

| Feature | Standard | Plus | Premium | Metal | Ultra |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Monthly exchange limit (no fee) | EUR 1,000 | EUR 3,000 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Fee above limit | 1% | 0.5% | None | None | None |
| Weekend markup | 1% | 1% | 1% | 1% | 1% |

Revolut uses its own exchange rate, which is close to the interbank rate during weekdays (Sunday 18:00 to Friday 17:00, New York time). On weekends a 1% markup applies to all plans. For travellers who spend in multiple currencies, Premium and above eliminate exchange limits entirely.

### ATM withdrawals

The Standard plan allows **5 free ATM withdrawals or EUR 200 per month** (whichever comes first). After that, a 2% fee applies (minimum EUR 1 per withdrawal). Paid plans offer higher limits: Premium includes EUR 400/month, Metal EUR 800/month, and Ultra EUR 2,000/month in free ATM withdrawals.

### Card delivery

| Delivery method | Standard | Plus | Premium | Metal | Ultra |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Standard delivery | EUR 7.49 | Free | Free | Free | Free |
| Express delivery | EUR 19.99 | EUR 19.99 | Free | Free | Free |
| Super-fast delivery | EUR 29.99 | EUR 29.99 | EUR 9.99 | EUR 9.99 | EUR 9.99 |
| Replacement card | EUR 6 | EUR 6 | EUR 6 | EUR 6 | EUR 6 |

My actual RevPoints transaction history: a 215-point Flying Blue transfer (today), +21.65 points from a restaurant, and manual top-ups at EUR 0.02 per point.

**Author's real experience:** This transaction log shows how RevPoints accumulate in practice. The Samariter Bistro purchase earned 21.65 points on a single meal. I also use the "Personal -> RevPoints" top-up feature (EUR 0.02 per point) to round up my balance before transferring to Flying Blue. The 215 points transferred today became 215 Flying Blue miles instantly.

## Earning calculator: spending scenarios

How many Flying Blue miles can you realistically earn with Revolut? Here are some scenarios based on monthly spending of EUR 2,000:

| Revolut plan | Monthly spend | RevPoints/month | Miles/year | What can you book? |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Standard | EUR 2,000 | 200 | 2,400 | Small contribution to a flight |
| Premium | EUR 2,000 | 500 | 6,000 | A one-way Europe Promo Reward in Economy |
| Metal | EUR 2,000 | 1,000 | 12,000 | Round-trip Europe Promo Reward in Economy |
| Ultra | EUR 2,000 | 2,000 | 24,000 | Multiple Europe flights or a long-haul contribution |

## Revolut vs Flying Blue Amex: honest comparison

The question every miles enthusiast asks: should you use Revolut or the [Flying Blue American Express](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/how-to-earn-flying-blue-miles>) for daily spending? Here is an honest side-by-side comparison:

| Feature | Revolut Ultra | Revolut Metal | FB Amex Gold | FB Amex Platinum |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Monthly cost | EUR 65.00 | EUR 19.99 | EUR 16.50 | EUR 55 |
| Miles per EUR 1 | 1 (via RevPoints) | 0.5 (via RevPoints) | 1 | 1.5 |
| Miles on KLM/AF | 1 | 0.5 | 2 | 3 |
| Welcome bonus | None | None | Up to 25,000 | Up to 70,000 |
| XP bonus | None | None | 30 XP/year | 60 XP/year |
| Status benefits | None | None | Silver shortcuts | Gold/Platinum path |
| Travel insurance | Yes (no cancellation) | Yes (with cancellation) | No | Limited |
| Fee-free exchange | Unlimited | Unlimited | No (FX fee applies) | No (FX fee applies) |
| Lounge access | LoungeKey | LoungeKey (limited) | No | Priority Pass |
| Acceptance | Mastercard (wide) | Mastercard (wide) | Amex (limited NL) | Amex (limited NL) |

### Key insight: Amex wins on miles, Revolut wins on travel features and acceptance

The Flying Blue Amex cards are clearly superior for miles earning per euro, especially with the welcome bonus and the 2-3x earning rate on KLM and Air France flights. But Amex acceptance in Europe is limited. Revolut (Mastercard) is accepted virtually everywhere and adds travel insurance, fee-free currency exchange, and rental car coverage that Amex does not match at the same price point. The smart move is to use both.

## Combination strategy: Revolut + Amex

For a trip with your household, consult the [Flying Blue Family guide](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-family-account>) when planning how to use the miles.

The most effective approach for Flying Blue members is combining both cards:

- **Amex for everything that accepts it:** online shopping, hotels, restaurants, travel bookings. Earn 1-1.5 miles per euro directly into Flying Blue.
- **Revolut for Amex-rejected merchants:** supermarkets (Albert Heijn, Carrefour), public transport, small shops, petrol stations. Earn RevPoints and transfer to Flying Blue.
- **Revolut for international spending:** no foreign transaction fees with Revolut, while Amex charges a fee on non-euro transactions.
- **Revolut for travel insurance:** use your Revolut card to book flights and hotels to activate the included insurance. This can save you hundreds on separate travel insurance per year.

Example: a household spending EUR 3,000/month (EUR 1,500 via Amex Gold, EUR 1,500 via Revolut Metal):

- Amex Gold: 1,500 x 12 = 18,000 Flying Blue miles/year
- Revolut Metal: 750 x 12 = 9,000 RevPoints = 9,000 Flying Blue miles/year
- **Total: 27,000 miles/year** plus travel insurance, fee-free exchange, and rental car excess coverage

The Air Miles transfer screen in Revolut: same 1:1 ratio as Flying Blue. You can book flights and upgrades with Air Miles.

## Other RevPoints transfer partners

Flying Blue is not the only [airline loyalty program you can transfer RevPoints to](<https://skystatus.pro/tools/transfer-partners>). Other partners include:

- **Avios** (British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Qatar Airways) at 1:1
- **SAS EuroBonus** at 1:1
- **Aegean Miles+Bonus** at 1:1
- **Etihad Guest** at 1:1

All transfers are at the same 1:1 ratio. For KLM and Air France flyers, Flying Blue is the obvious choice. If you fly other [SkyTeam](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-partner-airlines>), oneworld, or Star Alliance carriers, check which program gives you the [best value per mile](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-miles-value>).

## Frequently asked questions

What is the RevPoints to Flying Blue transfer ratio?

The [transfer ratio](<https://skystatus.pro/guide/flying-blue-transfer-partners>) is 1:1. Every 1 RevPoint becomes 1 Flying Blue mile. There are no fees or surcharges for the transfer.

Is there a minimum RevPoints transfer to Flying Blue?

No, there is no minimum transfer amount. You can transfer as few as 1 RevPoint, though most users accumulate a meaningful balance before transferring.

How long does the RevPoints to Flying Blue transfer take?

Transfers are typically instant. In some cases, it may take up to 24 hours for miles to appear in your Flying Blue account.

Can I transfer Flying Blue miles back to RevPoints?

No. The transfer is one-way only: RevPoints to Flying Blue miles. Once transferred, miles cannot be converted back to RevPoints.

Is Revolut better than Amex for earning Flying Blue miles?

For pure miles earning, no. The Flying Blue Amex Gold (1 mile/EUR) costs EUR 16.50/month versus Revolut Ultra (1 point/EUR) at EUR 65/month. The Amex also earns 2-3x on KLM/AF flights and comes with a welcome bonus. However, Revolut has better acceptance across Europe since it uses Mastercard, plus it includes travel insurance and fee-free currency exchange. The best strategy is to use both: Amex where accepted, Revolut everywhere else.

Do RevPoints expire?

RevPoints expire if your Revolut account is inactive for 12 months. As long as you use your Revolut card regularly, your points remain valid indefinitely.

Does Revolut include travel insurance?

Yes, from Premium upward. Premium, Metal, and Ultra all include travel insurance via XCover (Cover Genius). Key differences: Metal and Premium include trip cancellation (Ultra does not), Ultra covers trips up to 90 days (Metal/Premium only 30 days), and Ultra has a 4-hour delay threshold (Metal/Premium require 8 hours). You must pay for your travel with the Revolut card to activate coverage.

Does Revolut cover rental car excess?

Metal and Ultra plans include rental car excess insurance. This covers the deductible or liability charge imposed by the rental company's insurance during a trip. You must have purchased at least basic CDW coverage from the rental company, and the rental location must be more than 200 km from your home. Premium and lower plans do not include this.

Which Revolut plan is best for Flying Blue travellers?

Metal (EUR 19.99/month) offers the best balance for most travellers: decent RevPoints earning (1 per EUR 2), comprehensive travel insurance with trip cancellation, rental car excess coverage, EUR 1M personal liability, and unlimited fee-free currency exchange. Ultra (EUR 65/month) only makes sense if you need 90-day trip coverage or want maximum miles earning from spending.
