How Flying Blue XP are calculated
Eligible paid flights earn XP based on the distance band, the cabin and, on KLM and Air France Economy, the fare family. The ticket price itself plays no part. Award tickets booked with Miles earn no XP.

Domestic flights stay within one country, whatever their length. Every other flight is banded by the great-circle distance between its two airports. A connection counts as two flights, each in its own band, so a trip with a stop can earn more than a direct one.
Fare families on KLM and Air France Economy
- Basic earns a flat 2 XP per flight. It is sold on European and medium-haul flights, never on long-haul.
- Standard earns the value in the table.
- Flex earns the table value plus 2 XP and 2 UXP per flight, except on domestic flights.

A dash: the airline does not sell that cabin on the route. KLM and Air France sell Economy and Business within Europe. Premium Economy flies on long-haul only, and First, Air France La Première, on selected Air France routes.
From XP to status
Flying Blue counts XP over a qualification year of twelve months. From Explorer, 100 XP take you to Silver. Each level then starts a new count: 180 XP more for Gold and 300 more for Platinum. So from Explorer, Gold takes 280 XP in all and Platinum 580.
To keep a level for another year, you earn its threshold again within your qualification year. XP above what you need roll over into the next year, up to 300 XP.
Ultimate is decided by UXP: as a Platinum member, 900 UXP in your UXP period make you Ultimate. UXP come from KLM and Air France flights only, and from SAF bought on their tickets.
Flights are not the only source. A SAF contribution on a KLM or Air France booking earns 1 XP for every EUR 10, as Flying Blue prices it, and some cards and subscriptions add XP too. The guide to earning XP fast covers every method.
Sources and method
The tables follow Flying Blue's published XP rules, read through the same engine as the calculator. SkyStatus checks that engine against members' activity statements. Where statements differ from the published text, the calculator follows the statements: the Flex bonus also appears on long-haul flights, and a few routes near a band edge are credited in another band than their distance suggests.
Questions about XP
How many XP is a return flight from Amsterdam to New York?
Amsterdam to New York is a Long 2 flight. A return on KLM earns 20 XP in Economy, 40 in Premium Economy and 60 in Business, and the same number of UXP. KLM sells no First class.
Does a connection earn more XP than a direct flight?
Usually yes. Each flight earns XP in its own band, so Amsterdam to New York via Paris earns the Medium XP of the first flight plus the Long XP of the second. Air France sells a few routes as one flight with a stop, such as Paris to Papeete via Los Angeles: those earn the band XP plus a separate direct-flight bonus.
Do partner airlines earn XP?
Yes. Flights on Delta, Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air and other partners earn XP by distance band and cabin. They do not count toward UXP: only KLM and Air France flights do.
How many XP do Basic fares earn?
A Basic fare earns a flat 2 XP per flight, whatever the distance. KLM and Air France sell Basic on European and medium-haul flights, never on long-haul.
How accurate is this calculator?
It uses the Flying Blue XP table and the rules SkyStatus checks against real activity statements. A few routes near a band edge are placed in another band than their distance suggests: the calculator knows the ones seen on statements. Your statement always shows the final credit.
