Do Transavia flights earn Flying Blue XP?
Yes, good news! Transavia flights do indeed earn XP toward your Flying Blue status. This is one of the most underestimated ways to collect XP, especially if you regularly book short holidays.
How do you link Transavia to Flying Blue?
The most important thing: you must add your Flying Blue number to your Transavia booking. This can be done in two ways:
- When booking - enter your Flying Blue number during the booking process on transavia.com
- After booking - add your number via "My bookings" on the Transavia website or in the app
Without your Flying Blue number linked to the booking you will not receive XP or miles. Forgetting this is the most common mistake I encounter.
How much XP do you earn with Transavia?
Transavia uses its own booking classes that differ from KLM. The XP you earn depends on the route and the fare you booked:
- Short flights within Europe (e.g. Amsterdam - Barcelona): typically 4 to 8 XP per one-way
- Plus fare earns more XP than the basic Light fare
- Max fare gives the most XP, but at Transavia it is rarely worth it purely for the XP
A return flight with Transavia therefore earns you on average 8 to 16 XP. That might not sound like much, but if you go on holiday four times a year with Transavia, that is already 32 to 64 XP - a significant portion of the 100 XP you need for Silver.
Transavia versus KLM for XP
KLM flights typically earn more XP per flight, especially in higher booking classes. But Transavia is often cheaper, so the cost per XP can be comparable. For holiday travelers who fly Transavia anyway, it is purely bonus XP.
Tips to earn more XP
- Book the Plus fare if the price difference is small - this earns extra XP
- Don't forget to have your travel companions link their Flying Blue number too
- Always check in the SkyStatus Calculator how much XP your specific Transavia route earns
Tip: combine your Transavia flights with a Flying Blue Amex Platinum (60 XP per year). The Amex XP plus a few Transavia returns quickly gets you to the 100 XP for Silver.
