Revolut RevPoints to Flying Blue Miles: Complete Transfer Guide
Summary
Revolut RevPoints transfer to Flying Blue miles at a 1:1 ratio: 1,000 RevPoints become 1,000 Flying Blue miles. How many RevPoints you earn depends on your Revolut plan: the free Standard plan earns just 1 point per EUR 10 spent, while Ultra (EUR 60/month) earns 1 point per EUR 1. Beyond RevPoints, Revolut's paid plans include travel insurance, fee-free currency exchange, and rental car excess coverage, making them genuinely useful for frequent travellers. This guide covers everything: earning rates, plan comparison, insurance details, and how Revolut compares to the Flying Blue Amex cards.
Revolut plans and pricing (2026)
Revolut offers five plans. The table below shows the current monthly subscription cost for each plan in the Netherlands. Annual billing gives a discount on Plus, Premium, and Metal.
| Plan | Monthly price | Annual price (paid upfront) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Free | Free | Basic banking and occasional travel |
| Plus | EUR 3.99 | EUR 40 | Slightly more features, same low earning rate |
| Premium | EUR 9.99 | EUR 100 | Regular travellers who want insurance and better exchange |
| Metal | EUR 18.99 | EUR 185 | Frequent travellers wanting trip cancellation cover |
| Ultra | EUR 60.00 | EUR 600 | Heavy spenders maximizing miles and travel perks |
Annual billing saves money
Annual plans are paid as a single upfront payment, saving 16-19% compared to monthly billing. For example, Ultra costs EUR 600/year instead of EUR 720 (12 x EUR 60), saving EUR 120. Metal drops from EUR 227.88 to EUR 185/year, saving EUR 42.88. Note: early cancellation of a paid plan within 10 months may result in a fee.
RevPoints earning rates by Revolut plan
The number of RevPoints you earn per payment depends entirely on your Revolut subscription plan. Since RevPoints transfer to Flying Blue miles at 1:1, the table below also shows the effective cost per Flying Blue mile:
| Revolut plan | Monthly cost | RevPoints per EUR | Cost per Flying Blue mile |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (free) | EUR 0 | 1 per EUR 10 | EUR 10.00 per mile |
| Plus | EUR 3.99 | 1 per EUR 10 | EUR 10.00 per mile |
| Premium | EUR 9.99 | 1 per EUR 4 | EUR 4.00 per mile |
| Metal | EUR 18.99 | 1 per EUR 2 | EUR 2.00 per mile |
| Ultra | EUR 60.00 | 1 per EUR 1 | EUR 1.00 per mile |
Reality check: Standard and Plus are poor value for miles
At 1 point per EUR 10, you would need to spend EUR 75,000 to earn enough miles for a single round-trip Europe flight (7,500 miles). Only Metal and Ultra plans offer earning rates that make RevPoints a meaningful source of miles.
RevPoints are earned on card payments only. Bank transfers, ATM withdrawals, and cryptocurrency transactions do not earn points. Points are credited instantly after each transaction.

Travel insurance: Premium vs Metal vs Ultra
One of the biggest reasons to choose a paid Revolut plan as a traveller is the included travel insurance. The differences between plans are significant and often misunderstood. Here is the full comparison based on the official policy documents:

Surprise: Ultra does not cover trip cancellation
Despite being the most expensive plan, Revolut Ultra does not include trip cancellation insurance. If you book a EUR 2,000 holiday and need to cancel due to illness, Ultra will not reimburse you. Metal and Premium do cover this (up to EUR 5,000). This is a major gap to be aware of. If trip cancellation matters to you, Metal is the better choice, or make sure you have separate cancellation coverage.
Insurance conditions to know
- Pay with Revolut: you must book your main transport and accommodation with your Revolut card to activate the insurance. If your card is stolen, this requirement is waived (with police report).
- Deductible: 10% of the claim amount, capped at EUR 50 per claim.
- Pre-existing conditions: not covered. Claims related to medical conditions that existed before opening your account or booking are excluded.
- Domestic travel: only covered if you travel more than 100 km from your home address or book an overnight stay.
- Travel companions: other ticket holders are covered when travelling with the plan holder who paid for the trip.
- Children: covered if 17 years or younger.
- Residence: you must be an EEA resident.
- Insurer: Steadfast Insurance Partners Ltd (Malta), managed by Cover Genius Europe B.V. (Amsterdam), regulated by the AFM.
Our take: Metal is the sweet spot for Flying Blue travellers
At EUR 18.99 per month, Metal gives you the best balance: trip cancellation coverage (which Ultra lacks), rental car excess insurance, EUR 1M personal liability, a solid earning rate (1 RevPoint per EUR 2), and unlimited fee-free currency exchange. The 30-day trip limit is fine for most holidays. Ultra only makes sense if you need the 90-day trip duration (digital nomads, long-haul backpackers) or want maximum RevPoints earning.
Currency exchange and ATM fees
For Flying Blue members who travel frequently, Revolut's exchange rates and ATM policies matter just as much as miles:
Currency exchange
| Feature | Standard | Plus | Premium | Metal | Ultra |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly exchange limit (no fee) | EUR 1,000 | EUR 3,000 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Fee above limit | 1% | 0.5% | None | None | None |
| Weekend markup | 1% | 1% | 1% | 1% | 1% |
Revolut uses its own exchange rate, which is close to the interbank rate during weekdays (Sunday 18:00 to Friday 17:00, New York time). On weekends a 1% markup applies to all plans. For travellers who spend in multiple currencies, Premium and above eliminate exchange limits entirely.
ATM withdrawals
The Standard plan allows 5 free ATM withdrawals or EUR 200 per month (whichever comes first). After that, a 2% fee applies (minimum EUR 1 per withdrawal). Paid plans offer higher limits: Premium includes EUR 400/month, Metal EUR 800/month, and Ultra EUR 2,000/month in free ATM withdrawals.
Card delivery
| Delivery method | Standard | Plus | Premium | Metal | Ultra |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard delivery | EUR 7.49 | Free | Free | Free | Free |
| Express delivery | EUR 19.99 | EUR 19.99 | Free | Free | Free |
| Super-fast delivery | EUR 29.99 | EUR 29.99 | EUR 9.99 | EUR 9.99 | EUR 9.99 |
| Replacement card | EUR 6 | EUR 6 | EUR 6 | EUR 6 | EUR 6 |

Key insight: Amex wins on miles, Revolut wins on travel features and acceptance
The Flying Blue Amex cards are clearly superior for miles earning per euro, especially with the welcome bonus and the 2-3x earning rate on KLM and Air France flights. But Amex acceptance in Europe is limited. Revolut (Mastercard) is accepted virtually everywhere and adds travel insurance, fee-free currency exchange, and rental car coverage that Amex does not match at the same price point. The smart move is to use both.
Combination strategy: Revolut + Amex
The most effective approach for Flying Blue members is combining both cards:
- Amex for everything that accepts it: online shopping, hotels, restaurants, travel bookings. Earn 1-1.5 miles per euro directly into Flying Blue.
- Revolut for Amex-rejected merchants: supermarkets (Albert Heijn, Carrefour), public transport, small shops, petrol stations. Earn RevPoints and transfer to Flying Blue.
- Revolut for international spending: no foreign transaction fees with Revolut, while Amex charges a fee on non-euro transactions.
- Revolut for travel insurance: use your Revolut card to book flights and hotels to activate the included insurance. This can save you hundreds on separate travel insurance per year.
Example: a household spending EUR 3,000/month (EUR 1,500 via Amex Gold, EUR 1,500 via Revolut Metal):
- Amex Gold: 1,500 x 12 = 18,000 Flying Blue miles/year
- Revolut Metal: 750 x 12 = 9,000 RevPoints = 9,000 Flying Blue miles/year
- Total: 27,000 miles/year plus travel insurance, fee-free exchange, and rental car excess coverage
Maximize your miles with Flying Blue Amex
Combine Revolut for everyday spending with a Flying Blue Amex for maximum earning power. The welcome bonus alone can be worth a free flight.

The transfer ratio is 1:1. Every 1 RevPoint becomes 1 Flying Blue mile. There are no fees or surcharges for the transfer.
Is there a minimum RevPoints transfer to Flying Blue?
No, there is no minimum transfer amount. You can transfer as few as 1 RevPoint, though most users accumulate a meaningful balance before transferring.
How long does the RevPoints to Flying Blue transfer take?
Transfers are typically instant. In some cases, it may take up to 24 hours for miles to appear in your Flying Blue account.
Can I transfer Flying Blue miles back to RevPoints?
No. The transfer is one-way only: RevPoints to Flying Blue miles. Once transferred, miles cannot be converted back to RevPoints.
Is Revolut better than Amex for earning Flying Blue miles?
For pure miles earning, no. The Flying Blue Amex Gold (1 mile/EUR) costs EUR 16.50/month versus Revolut Ultra (1 point/EUR) at EUR 60/month. The Amex also earns 2-3x on KLM/AF flights and comes with a welcome bonus. However, Revolut has better acceptance across Europe since it uses Mastercard, plus it includes travel insurance and fee-free currency exchange. The best strategy is to use both: Amex where accepted, Revolut everywhere else.
Do RevPoints expire?
RevPoints expire if your Revolut account is inactive for 12 months. As long as you use your Revolut card regularly, your points remain valid indefinitely.
Does Revolut include travel insurance?
Yes, from Premium upward. Premium, Metal, and Ultra all include travel insurance via XCover (Cover Genius). Key differences: Metal and Premium include trip cancellation (Ultra does not), Ultra covers trips up to 90 days (Metal/Premium only 30 days), and Ultra has a 4-hour delay threshold (Metal/Premium require 8 hours). You must pay for your travel with the Revolut card to activate coverage.
Does Revolut cover rental car excess?
Metal and Ultra plans include rental car excess insurance. This covers the deductible or liability charge imposed by the rental company's insurance during a trip. You must have purchased at least basic CDW coverage from the rental company, and the rental location must be more than 200 km from your home. Premium and lower plans do not include this.
Which Revolut plan is best for Flying Blue travellers?
Metal (EUR 18.99/month) offers the best balance for most travellers: decent RevPoints earning (1 per EUR 2), comprehensive travel insurance with trip cancellation, rental car excess coverage, EUR 1M personal liability, and unlimited fee-free currency exchange. Ultra (EUR 60/month) only makes sense if you need 90-day trip coverage or want maximum miles earning from spending.
