Question

When can you access the lounge as a Flying Blue member?

Asked by Mark on February 24, 2026

I don't fully understand when you can access the lounge as a Flying Blue member. Is that with Gold? Or do you need Platinum?

Expert answer

Lounge access per Flying Blue status level

Lounge access is one of the most desired benefits of Flying Blue status. But not every level automatically grants access.

Explorer (no status)

No lounge access via status. You can buy a day pass at some lounges (EUR 60-75 at Schiphol) or gain access through a Business Class ticket.

Silver

Also no automatic lounge access. Silver offers priority boarding, extra baggage and 50% more miles, but the lounge remains closed based on status.

Gold - this is where it starts

With Flying Blue Gold (180 XP) you get access to 750+ SkyTeam lounges worldwide including one guest. This includes:

  • KLM Crown Lounges at Schiphol and other KLM hubs
  • Air France lounges at Charles de Gaulle and Orly
  • SkyTeam partner lounges - Delta Sky Clubs, Korean Air lounges, and more
  • Contract lounges where SkyTeam has no own lounge

Important: you only get access when you are flying the same day with a SkyTeam airline.

Platinum

Platinum gives the same lounge access as Gold (including one guest). Additionally, at some airports you get access to more exclusive lounges and you have the Platinum Service Line for direct assistance.

Ultimate

Ultimate members get the highest priority and access to the most exclusive lounges, such as the Air France La Premiere Lounge.

Business Class ticket

Regardless of your status: with a Business Class ticket you always have lounge access, no matter your Flying Blue level. This applies on KLM, Air France and SkyTeam partners.

Alternative: Priority Pass via Amex Platinum

Don't have Flying Blue Gold? With an American Express Platinum Card (EUR 65/month) you get Priority Pass, giving you access to 1,400+ lounges worldwide. This is independent of your Flying Blue status and also works when you are not flying with SkyTeam.

Summary

  • Explorer/Silver: no lounge access via status
  • Gold: 750+ SkyTeam lounges + 1 guest
  • Platinum/Ultimate: same + more exclusive lounges
  • Business Class ticket: always lounge access
  • Amex Platinum: Priority Pass (1,400+ lounges, independent of FB status)
